Technician workflows
The technician section of the mobile app is a work-order queue worked right next to the vehicle — from picking up an order, through the repair, to certifying it. It mirrors the same work-order lifecycle as the web console (see Work orders), scoped to the actions a technician actually performs in the field.
Who it's for
The technician role — whether this section shows on the dashboard depends on the roles granted on the active membership (technician, maintenance manager, fleet manager, or organization administrator); see Roles and permissions.
The work-order queue
The list defaults to showing only orders assigned to you — turn off the "assigned to me" filter to see the whole shop queue. Separate status chips (open, assigned, in progress, completed, closed) narrow the view further. Each row shows the priority and, when the order was raised automatically from a safety defect found during an inspection, a highlighted source badge. The order's detail brings together the vehicle, source, priority, and total cost alongside the list of labour and part lines.
Lifecycle actions
The app only offers the actions both the work order's current state and your role on the active membership actually allow: starting work — once assigned; completing it — while in progress. Every action asks for confirmation and updates the order's visible status immediately, even before it syncs with the server — offline you see the effect of your action right away, and the server remains the final authority and verifies it once connectivity returns. Assigning a work order and closing it are only available in the app for the maintenance manager, fleet manager, or organization administrator role — those roles work the same mobile queue as the technician and see the same technician section in the app, just with the full set of lifecycle actions. A technician carries an order from starting work, through adding labour and part lines, to completing it.
Labour/part lines and certification
As long as an order isn't completed, you can add lines — labour or a part, with a quantity and a unit cost — and the line total updates the order's visible total cost right away. Certifying the repair — confirming with an e-signature that the order was completed correctly — is another step only available in the app for the maintenance manager, fleet manager, or organization administrator role; the signature is captured as data (a hash), never as an image — who certified it and when is filled in automatically from the signed-in account.
In the background
When a queued action is rejected by the server after sync — for example an attempt to move an order past a state it isn't in — it lands in the list of actions that failed to sync, with a visible banner on the queue; you can inspect it there and requeue it. See Offline and sync.
